Who is Melina?
Born in Cyprus, Melina Sofocleous is a Cypriot–Welsh/American dance artist based in Limassol. They graduated from the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London (2014) and work internationally as a performer and choreographer. As a performer, they have collaborated with choreographers and companies across the UK, Italy,Denmark, Greece, and Cyprus, including Phoenix Dance Theatre (UK), Marie Chouinard at La Biennale di Venezia (IT), Aerites Dance Company in production presented by Onassis Stegi (GR), Toussaint To Move Company (UK), Panos Malactos (CY), and Francesca Foscarini (IT), and many more productions and collaborations, appearing in international festivals and performance contexts across Europe and the Mediterranean.
As a choreographer, their work has been presented at La Biennale di Venezia (Young
Choreographers Platform, 2020) and Platforma – the Cyprus Choreographic Platform (2019–2024), where they received the Emerging Choreographer Award in 2024. They were a resident artist of the Moving the New program at Dance House Lemesos (2025), where Don’t You Just Love Melting?was presented at the Open House Festival.
