Workshop: “Artisanal Bookbinding Workshop” – by Julieta Reyes

€35.00

Date: 7 October 2026, 16:00–20:00

Workshop Language: English

Detailed Description:
This workshop offers participants the opportunity to design and create their own personalized 15 × 21 cm hardcover notebook with exposed stitching.

Throughout the workshop, participants will be introduced to basic bookbinding principles and guided through the process of creating their own notebook step by step. They will prepare the paper signatures, create fabric-covered hardcovers, and finally sew the book using a long-stitch variation—a simple technique that highlights the handcrafted quality of the finished piece.

Each participant will take home their completed notebook, as well as a digital handout with the workshop material.

No prior experience is required. The workshop is suitable for teenagers, young adults and adults.

The workshop fee includes all materials. Participants are asked to bring a few basic tools: scissors, a utility knife, a ruler, a pencil, a medium-sized paintbrush and, if available, a cutting mat.

Goals & Context:
The main goal of the workshop is to introduce participants to the craft of bookbinding through a hands-on and creative experience, while encouraging them to explore the process of making and personalising their own handmade publication.

The main subjects and activities will include:
[1] Introduction to basic bookbinding principles
[2] Designing and creating a personalised notebook
[3] Preparing paper signatures
[4] Creating fabric-covered hardcovers
