Workshop: Behind the Decks: An Introduction to DJing - by DJ Patsas

€20.00

Date and Time: 09/05/2026, 18:00 - 21:00

Workshop language: Greek & English (bilingual, depending on participants’ needs)

Detailed Description:

This workshop is a 90-minute introduction to DJing, designed for people who are curious about the practice but feel overwhelmed by gear, terminology, or where to start. Rather than focusing on technical complexity, the session introduces DJing as a practice: how DJs think, how they build flow and energy, and how music selection shapes an experience. Participants will be guided through the basic concepts of DJing, see a simple live demonstration, and gain clarity on what learning DJing actually involves. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners, music lovers, and early-stage DJs who want a grounded and realistic introduction.

Goals & Context:

  • Demystify DJing and remove intimidation around equipment and technique

  • Introduce DJing as a creative and listening-based practice

  • Help participants understand whether DJing is something they want to pursue further

  • Create a shared learning experience in a relaxed, non-competitive environment

DJ Patsas: Born and raised in Cyprus, Patsas has spent over a decade curating warm, playful sets that move fluidly between house and disco, always keeping the dancefloor moving. Beyond DJing, his work explores the social and communal side of electronic music. Through projects such as Brandy Sour, Strangers, and Unfiltered, he has been creating spaces for dialogue, listening, and connection, contributing to the growth of a local scene that values authenticity, shared experience, and cultural exchange as much as sound itself. As a DJ, his career has continued to expand in recent years, with appearances at local events and festivals, opening sets for artists including Gerd Janson, Fafi Abdel Nour, Demi Riquísimo, and Matisa, as well as performances in Greece, Malta, and Albania.
